    Talk: An Effort to Conserve the Natural Resources in an Urban Landscape, Indonesia

    Dr. Bambang Sulistyantara obtained his doctoral in Landscape Architecture Sciences from the Faculty of Horticulture, Chiba University, Japan. He currently heads the Department of Landscape Architecture in the Faculty of Agriculture, Bogor Agricultural University, Indonesia. He also heads the Indonesia Landscape Architecture Education Forum. According to the international program, he leads double degree program of the magister in landscape architecture, as the collaboration between Bogor Agricultural University and Chiba University. He is in charge of the urban development management advisory (UDMA) for Bogor City. He also works as a researcher at the Division of Landscape Plant and Greenery Open Space System as well.

It aims to share insights from two diverse professions and uncover how they draw inspiration from each other. This is the second installation of cross-over talks featuring two types of creatives. The forum invites creatives from both the landscape and film disciplines to share their thoughts on how they manifest the urban landscape of Singapore within their respective mediums.

    There is a growing interest in cycling as a recreational activity and alternative mode of transport in Singapore in the past few years. Active Mobility, which includes cycling, also fits in with our vision to be a cleaner, greener and more environmentally conscious society as part of the Smart Nation vision and programme. As the number of cyclists increase, we acknowledge the need to improve cycling infrastructure and safety for cyclists and pedestrians; hence there have been a large number of initiatives from the government and interest groups to build up cycling paths and routes, and associated infrastructure to support cycling. Singapore is also in the process of developing more comprehensive safety guidelines for active mobility. At the same time, the government and relevant interest groups have been promoting cycling as part of a green lifestyle.
